Orlando Buenano of Custom Cabinetry is a dedicated father, son, brother, friend and master woodworker. Orlando graduated Gulf Coast High School in 2011 and as any newly graduated high school student he planned on taking two years off before college. The first year of his two-year plan he did tile, carpentry, roofing, rough framing work and disliked every bit of it and was unhappy. He found himself working out of Quality Cabinets of Bonita Springs, where is enjoyed getting hands on experience but still felt as though something was missing. He was blessed and lucky enough to meet woodworking genius Tom Frank owner of Inspired Woodworking, where he stayed for several years being an apprentice, learning the craft and falling in love with the trade. To this day Orlando and Tom are still great friends and when Orlando gets stuck, Tom is the one he calls; you could say Tom is his mentor.
In his words, making cabinets is work and can be a bit boring and tedious, but building custom pieces such as entertainment centers and vanities is the fun relaxing part of the job. He’s constantly learning and evolving. And let me tell you, what I would give to have a custom piece from Custom Cabinetry in our home. If you’re in the market for new cabinets, a custom built in entertainment center, vanity, desk, custom closets, wet bar, floating shelves. I mean seriously, the possibilities are limitless and Orlando is meticulous at his craft. I haven’t experienced it first hand, but I’ve heard that Orlando is a bit of a perfectionist, I hear while he’s working in his shop he keeps his cell phone in a plastic bag inside in his pocket. If he’s that particular about his phone, imagine the detail and attention that goes into his work.
"Each plank…can have only one ideal use. The woodworker must find this ideal use and create an object of utility to man, and if nature smiles, an object of lasting beauty.” George Nakashima – Woodworker
